Sunoco Challenge Information
The 2019 season Sunoco Whelen Challenge is provided in partnership with Whelen Engineering in the USA and Anglo American Oil Company Ltd in the UK. Drivers from selected Sunoco-fuelled championships compete against each other throughout the season with a chance to win a fully paid-for race seat in a Whelen-sponsored race car in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January 2020. Last year’s Sunoco Whelen Challenge winner and BRDC British Formula 3 Champion Linus Lundqvist competed in a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO in the GTD class and, despite having had everything thrown at him for torrential rain to gearbox issues, completed his first 24 hour race with flying colours.
The 2019 season Sunoco 240 Challenge provides an additional winner, from Sunoco fuelled Championships that are not eligible for the Sunoco Whelen Challenge, with a race seat in the Sunoco liveried GT4 during the 240-mile endurance race on the Friday before the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Sunoco 240 Challenge winner Kyle Reid showed great ace and had the time of his life as he raced in the BMW Endurance Challenge At Daytona.
